Our Cinco de Mayo Autocross will be at Central Arizona College this year. The track is used for police training, and the college allows us to rent the facility for autocrosses. The track is about 0.75 miles long and located near Casa Grande. There will be instructors to help out anyone who wants some advice.  This is not a race and no timing will be done until the afternoon timed laps. Each person can work on improving their skill level while having tremendous fun. The cars will be divided into run groups according to skill levels and speed.

You will need to empty out your car, make sure tires are at least to recommended pressures, wear a long-sleeved shirt and long pants of natural material, bring drinks and lunch, bring a helmet if you have one and be prepared to smile a lot.

If you don't want to drive but want to help we can use you. There are several jobs that can you can do to help out: registration, assistance at tech, help in the pit area, flagging, and communication.

A tentative schedule is below. Please arrive well before tech inspection ends.

Tentative Schedule:

7:00 - 8:30 am: Tech inspection and Registration
8:00 am: Instructor's meeting
8:30 - 8:50 am: Mandatory driver's meeting
8:55 - 9:10 am: Parade laps
9:20 am: First car on track
< 4:00 pm: Finished for the day

Where: Central Arizona College. Take I-10 north from Tucson (south from Phoenix) to exit 190 McCartney Rd (approximately 5 miles north of the I-8 interchange). Go east on McCartney Rd 2.5 miles to Overfield Rd. Turn left and go 1 mile to a stop sign (the entrance gate to CAC will be directly in front of you). Turn right, go 0.2 mile and take the first left. This road has several speed bumps--go straight north 0.9 mile. There will be horse corrals on the right. At the end of the road it turns left into a small parking lot; continue through the lot and turn right, go through the gate and you are there!

  • Please register early so groups can be assigned in advance -- this makes planning much easier for our autocross chairs, Dave Radmacher and Greg Robertson, safety chair Terry Prince, and timing chair Kathleen Kendler.  Participation is limited to 50 drivers.

As this is a Zone 8 Event, Porsche automobiles will have priority over non-Porsche automobiles. If over 50 autocross entries are received, non-Porsche drivers will be removed based on later registration dates. Contact Dave Radmacher with any questions.

Zone 8 Drivers will be competing for year end zone points. Drivers are expected from California, New Mexico and Texas to compete.
