Area Tracks
The Southern Arizona Region of PCA has access to multiple nearby tracks. Here's a short
note about of each of those, along with links to full descriptions including photos, track
maps and some video. Below, you will find the links to other tracks in the area.
Driver Education Style Autocross Events
These events provide multiple-lap practice sessions that precede the competition part of the day. Instructors are
provided for novice drivers and available to others. Speeds are generally lower and the focus is on a safe learning environment
and end-of-the-day lap times for recording student progress from event to event.
- Musselman Honda Circuit (MHC) is a local Kart track that suits our needs very well.
Only 0.8 Miles in length but has the right mix of corners, some elevation changes and is lighted for nighttime use.
-
Pinal Air Park is a 1.2 mile road course
that is safe and exciting. Even if you don't want to drive your car on the track, we can
always use help in running the events, so come on out.
-
Central Arizona College (CAC) near Casa
Grande, AZ. This 0.75-mile long track is within easy reach of both Tucson and the greater Phoenix area. It
is noted for the variety of corner types, the differences in the linkages between them, and
it's smooth surface.
Driver Education Events
These two-day events provide maximum driving experience, lots of laps and plenty of instruction for novice, intermediate and even
advanced drivers. In general, the speeds are higher than those found at our Driver Education Style Autocross events.
Lap times are not recorded at DE events. These events are the best way to learn high-performance driving.
-
Arroyo Seco Raceway (ASR) in Deming, NM. is a long-time favorite of our group.
It's 1.4 miles long has 14 corners and provides plenty of challenges for our cars. We run the course in one direction
on the first day and the other on the second.
-
Inde Motorsports Ranch (INDE or IMR) in Willcox, AZ. At 2.75 miles in length, with 21 corners and 240-feet of cumulative
elevation changes, this is a great facility. An all new, clean and fast track that allows you to stretch your car and
yourself. This is quite possibly the safest track we use.
In addition to our primary activities, we occasionally hold Car Control
Clinics in the parking lot of our local drag strip, Southwest International
Raceway (SIR). We are constantly looking for new venues for this important event. Check the front page of our website
under Upcoming Events, for announcements about all of the above listed activities.
We occasionally organize trips to other clubs' events, such as the Arizona Border Region
of SCCA autocross, Sierra Vista Sports Car Club's (SSCC) autocross at Fort
Huachuca, and other venues. The Arizona Region PCA also holds Driver education events at
Firebird International Raceway (FIR) in Chandler AZ where there are three
different courses. Occasionally, Arizona Region PCA events are held at
Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) which is also located in the Phoenix area.
If you haven't been out to one of these events, come and find out why Porsche handling is so famous, and meet other Porsche
enthusiasts who are enjoying their cars in thrilling ways.
There are several great places around Southern Arizona to enjoy your car's handling and speed. Also check our
calendar for track schedule information.
Going counter-clockwise around the map:
- PIR (Phoenix International Raceway): Lots of professional races take
place here. In addition, AZ Region PCA, NASA,
and Pro AutoSports also use it for Driver Education or Time Trial events.
- FIR (Firebird International Raceway): Three tracks in one location. The Firebird
East track is popular with the AZ Region PCA, and very safe.
- CAC (Central Arizona College): We use this track frequently, it has lots of challenging
corners, a smooth surface and it's easy to access.
- Pinal (Pinal Air Park): We have been using this track since the late 1990s so it is quite
familiar to our members. A fun track with a good safety record. Here is a QuickTime
movie of 3 laps at Pinal (12.8 MB).
- SIR (Southwestern International Raceway): We sometimes use our local Drag strip parking
lot for autocross or car control clinics. The SCCA in Tucson often use the lot for their
autocrosses.
- MHC (Musselman Honda Circuit): A very nice Autocross venue for SAR. A local Kart track with
night lighting! Short and twisty and a LOT of fun!
- INDE (INDE Motorsports Ranch): Our newest and longest track at 2.75 miles, located near Willcox AZ, about 80 miles from Tucson. Fast,
safe, with lots of different corner types and some real elevation changes.
- SSCC (Sierra Vista Car Club): This club is associated with SCCA and holds monthly
autocrosses at Fort Huachuca and other locations around Sierra Vista.
- ASR (Arroyo Seco Raceway): A great track near Deming, New Mexico, about 230 miles from
Tucson. Here is a QuickTime movie of 3 laps in the clockwise direction
at Arroyo Seco (24.6 MB).
