This page introduces a brand new track to PCA Southern Arizona Regions'
collection of driver education-style autocross sites. This local facility
was designed for, and is regularly used by, Kart racers. Our club has recently
gained access to the track and we plan to hold driver-training and driver
education-style autocross events here. The course is 0.7986 miles in
length, 34 feet wide, has an elevation change of 17 feet and is perfectly smooth, with
adequate run-off areas. Checking the track map shows a wide variety of
corner types and we think 'the line' will provide lots of fun for both new and
experienced drivers. The pit area is small and spartan but we think we
can make it work. By careful event design, we will plan and implement, with full PCA
National sanction, multi-car and multi-lap practice and timed autocross
events.

Our procedures allow flag-controlled passing and tightly controlled
track access in small groups. The worker stations are in safe locations and have a
very good view of the track. As an added bonus for photographers, we may be able to
allow access to a "crows nest" which will provided a slightly elevated view
(floor is about eight feet above the track level) of a very large portion of
the track. One final bonus- the track is very evenly lighted for night
events.
This may allow us to extend our racing season by an event or two.
Photographs on this page
depict SAR Porsches in action on our recent "test day." That
preliminary session was required in order to qualify our group to conduct
future events here. It also allowed us to work out the continuous lapping
procedures and adjust one or two potential safety issues. Having done
that, we are ready to have some fun here!

This is a "Test Run" autocross to prove that we can run "DE-style"
continuous lap autocrosses, using a mandatory stop box so that overtaken cars
may be safely passed. The stop box and flagman are visable very early in the
video, on the right hand side of the long straight. When the Cayman catches
the Mini Cooper on the main straight, look for the passing flag on the left.
To get there, Via I-10, head East from downtown Tucson to exit 273 (Rita Rd.).
Travel South to the first intersection and turn left onto Rocket Stravenue (follows
the power lines) then turns into S. Harrison Rd. Follow the Harrison past the Pima
County Fairgrounds to the entrance (on your Right) to the Musselman Honda Circuit
Or, from the Eastside of Tucson, Head South on Houghton Rd, cross Interstate-10
and continue to the first intersection past Southwest International Raceway (as
if you plan to enter SIR from the South). Continue West and turn Right onto Harrison
Road and continue for 100 yards or so. Turn Left into the Musselman Honda Circuit
at 11,800 S. Harrison Road on the west side across from the Tucson Raceway Park facility.
